The golf driver can be the most pleasing club to hit, but simultaneously can be the club that destroys your round and overall game. These brief golf driving tips will help you to tame the beast and to drive the ball straight and far.
GOLF DRIVING TIP #1: THE SKY SHOT
Amateurs often try to counteract a "sky shot" (where the ball comes off the top of the driver and shoots straight up into the air with little forward motion and distance) by teeing the next one low and setting up level at address (similar to when you play an iron shot). This change in golf driver setup accentuates the problem greatly because it results in a steeper swing plane and invariably causes the same (if not even worse) result than before.
GOLF DRIVING TIP #2: THE SECRET TO FLUSH GOLF DRIVES
These simple golf driver setup changes will prevent you from hitting the dreaded skied tee shot.
More weight on your right foot
A bigger spine tilt away from your target
Ball diameter is halfway above the driver's face on the tee at rest before starting your backswing
Ball is slighter ahead of your hands at address to help produce a "sweeping" motion upon contact with the ball, rather than a cutting action into the ball
These changes will allow you to get your weight further behind the ball and provide you with more time to get the club on a more shallow swing plane when coming back down - the key to a solid contact with your golf ball.
Next time you hit a skied tee shot on the course, don't worry because if you implement the slight changes above, you'll be driving your golf tee shots with your driver straight down the middle!
